We are almost there!
This time next week, the grassroots championships will be kicking off the 2024 Badminton Horse Trials – a key date in the equestrian calendar.
Badminton holds a special place in my heart & each year it is my absolute favourite event to attend. I feel it marks the end of winter. Each year, I count down the weeks and days, knowing that by the time Badminton comes, the trees will be full of beautiful green leaves & (fingers crossed) there will be some warmth in the Sun, which happens most years… just maybe not in 2023.
Despite the awful weather last year, a wonderful time was still to be had, so I thought what better way to build the anticipation of the 2024 event than to take a recap of 2023.
Since 2019, I have done lots of wonderful shoots with the lovely Megan Elphick (@elphickeventponies) & it is a pleasure to capture her Voltaire Design Grassroots Badminton journey! in 2023, Meg took two of her wonderful horses – Jamelia (who she had previously competed with in 2022) & Commons Delight who was taking to the Badminton ground for the First time!
Going behind the scenes and capturing the wonderful support network that helps to make the day run as smoothly as possible really is wonderful.
Meg took 4th & 7th place in the 90cm category which was absolutely amazing!

It was wonderful to capture the winning lap of honour with Ros Canter & Lordships Graffalo. Despite the awful rain, huge numbers of people were there to congratulate them.
So… Will I see you at Badminton Horse trials next week? and who will be our 2024 winner?!
