The Tartan Shoot

Having ventured to the most beautiful locations, in search of the perfect backdrop for a Tartan styled shoot; on Thursday I brought the vision to life, featuring Thistle & Cloth’s Stunning dresses, each beautifully hand crafted.

The initial vision I had for this shoot was with the Royal Stewart Tartan, on a sparse moorland, featuring a highland pony, with a dramatic atmospheric sky behind; the red popping against the earthy tones of the landscape.

Well that Is exactly what we got!! The shot above was actually taken last on the shoot, due to the location we needed to get to in order to capture it. By this time, the mist had rolled in & just as Emma and Kinchie (the wonderful models on this shoot) got into position, the heavens opened!! The dramatic sky took form, as the distant hills began to fade into the background. I knew we needed to capture this shot quickly, before they both got soaked. A soon as I took the above image, I knew it was the one. I loved this shot, as with the wind howling & rain pouring, there was something so peaceful about Emma’s expression & outstretched hand. I think with horses, we can often find our moment of quiet, even when the world around seems so loud and busy.

When doing the location scout for this shoot, as soon as I drove along this beautiful quiet lane, I could picture how beautiful it would be with the deep green and rich red of the Crawford tartan, which was used to make another of the stunning dresses to be featured in this shoot.

My goodness – this was PERFECT & once again, seeing the vision come to life for this shot was very special.

The final Tartan featured was Auld Scotland, with beautiful earthy tones, interspersed by blue, I knew this would be perfect for the lakeside shots!
