My grandparents have always spoken of the “good old days” and David Attenborough, in a recent documentary spoke of how much the natural world has changed over his lifetime. We must take action now to restore the balance of our planet. This is something that can be inspired by an individual, but must become a movement among all to make an impact.
We can learn so much from older generations & how they lived, to inspire new ways of living a sustainable lifestyle.

At College, alongside photography & graphic design, I studied English. In literature, the use of metaphors fascinated me & through this creative project, I really wanted to consider the use of metaphors in imagery.

Introducing
A love letter to nature
A little girl is given wisdom and seeds to make change by her grandmother. She embarks on a journey, accompanied by her pony, a symbol of companionship & trust from another species. Initially through the industrial world, where the trees appear lifeless, and atmosphere somber, the dark red horizon representing the resistance against change. As they venture forwards, the little girl scatters the seeds & slowly flowers begin to grow, which she nurtures along the way.
Though the series, colour & life is restored. Nature begins to flourish again, the sun shining on all of the places she has walked, leaving a trail of beauty. The little girl becomes an inspiration to others & starts the movement towards a more sustainable future, a figure of hope when all may seem dark. Walking hand in hand, united, the change is most dramatic, with light filling the image, a symbol of optimism.

The little girl begins her journey, surrounded by the relics of lifeless trees & a towering symbol of mankind looms ahead.

The long road ahead, surrounded by the ominous architecture of the bridge, showing how difficult it is to step out of society’s norm – the dark red horizon representing the resistance against change.

the first of the flowers bloom, but the road ahead remains challenging.

As the little girl scatters the seeds, colour is restored.

The sun shines down on the little girl & onto the sun dial, showing how time is running out. Her message must now be heard by others, to inspire change on a bigger scale.

The flowers are in full bloom, surrounding the little girl and her pony, as she heads into the darkness, where she hopes to encourage others to follow her.

From within the darkness, the little girl’s radiance begins to inspire others & bring about change.

Walking hand in hand, united, the change is most dramatic, with light filling the image, a symbol of optimism.
I hope you love this project as much as I do – what an amazing shoot it was to capture! As I have mentioned on social media, there was a very specific reason that I chose this as a subject, but you will have to wait a little while to find out why.
Thank you so much for reading.
